Dr Lucy Doherty

Dr Lucy Doherty has worked across the private sector and the National Health Service, and is now self-employed as a health psychologist specialising in optimising health, burnout, and chronic pain, with a focus on what keeps people well. She understands how the information people receive from healthcare professionals shapes behaviour, engagement, and long-term outcomes. Health literacy is central to her work, ensuring communication is clear, practical, and actionable. Dr Doherty supports individuals and groups to make sense of complex health information and translate it into sustainable behaviour change. She also works with healthcare professionals to embed health literacy into practice, strengthening communication, improving patient understanding, and ultimately enhancing health outcomes.
